Still Water and Glacier Rocks
Big Chute, Ontario - 2006

Tens of thousands of years ago, glaciers receeded north across the Canadian Shield over what is now know as Ontario. These glaciers left many indelible marks on the landscape including innumerable lakes and granite outcrops with telltale north south marks. I love this image on many levels, it captures a scarred granite outcrop that has been underwater for untold years. In that still water we see the reflection of pine trees that are part of the coniferous forests that cover most of Ontario. Miraculously these trees grow and flourish between the granite outcrops in amazingly little soil, anchoring their roots in cracks of rock.
