Ebb and Flow
Awenda Provincial Park, Ontario - 2006

Water, wind, sand and the erractic placement of rocks and boulders conspire to create these beautiful patterns in sand.

The beaches on the north shore of Awenda Provincial Park are littered with thousands of granite boulders deposited there by relentless wind and waves coming in off Lake Huron. Todd Point on the west side of the park, is relatively sheltered and not subject to the same forces that have shaped the north shore. This calm environment gives nature full artistic freedom in creating patterns in sand with the gentle rhythm of water washing in and around the rocks and boulders, then back out into Lake Huron dragging tentrils of sand with it. It is a beautiful and ever changing abstract image.
