Composition of Oak Leaf and Sand
Awenda Provincial Park, Ontario - 2006

Rivulets cutting through sand creating patterns of unimaginable beauty and complexity, with a single fallen oak leaf caught in the middle.

This is a classic "those little fragments of the world" images that John Szarkowski spoke about when discussing the works of Ansel Adams. Although it's not a mountain range or a forest of massive redwoods, this deceptively simple image wispers volumes about the treasures that the natural world holds for us... all we have to do is take the time to observe it.
