Abstract Light Reflections
Big Chute, Ontario - 2006

This is an intresting photograph for it's contrasts. Contrasts between tone and texture and the contrasts between the rocks and reflections.

The dark solid granite outcrop has been there for tens of thousands of years. It's shape was defined by the water that now surrounds it and by the frozen waters of glaciers that receed through this area eons ago. The shape of the rocks lead your eye into the dancing reflections of clouds and light in the water which existed for only a moment before transforming into something completely different. That contrast is what I find most facinating about this image, two elements that could not be more different, yet work in harmony with each other to create a complete composition.
